Lockport Citizen Police Academy Begins In September

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport Police will hold a Citizen Police Academy this fall, starting in September.

The department said the free class is held once a week, and meets every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., from Sept. 1 to Nov. 17.

Participants must be 18 and older, and can apply online. Background checks will be conducted on each applicant.

Topics covered in the academy include use of force, SWAT, traffic stop scenarios, mock courtroom, shoot/don't shoot scenarios, officer survival safety skills and crime scene investigation.
