Lockport Dance Company Claims 'Studio Of Excellence' Award For Third Time

The family-owned studio opened in Lockport in 2022.

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport dance studio, Relevé Dance Company, was recently named a Studio of Excellence for the third time by the Association of Dance Competitions & Conventions.

The family-owned studio opened in Lockport in 2022, co-owner Matt Brannan told Patch. He and his wife, Kelly, own the studio.

The studio has earned the "Studio of Excellence" award three times in its four years. The business offers recreational and competitive dance programs for ages 3 through 18. It serves families from across the area, including Lockport, New Lenox, Mokena, Homer Glen, Bolingbrook, Lemont and Joliet.

The studio is one of the few in the area to teach tap, modern, and poms alongside ballet, jazz, hip hop, and acro, the business said.

Matt said Relevé was started for his daughters. The family lives in Lockport, and had outgrown another studio in the area.

"We built Relevé for the most personal reason there is — our own daughters. They'd outgrown their studio, and after trying others, we just couldn't find the experience we wanted for them," Kelly said. "So we decided that if we couldn't find it, we'd build it."

The studio is currently enrolling for its new season, and offers a free trial class to families who want to experience a class.

"What we're proudest of isn't the awards — it's the feeling in the room," said Kelly. "We've built a studio where every dancer is known by name, where families aren't surprised by hidden fees, and where kids grow in confidence on stage and off. Being recognized as a Studio of Excellence three times tells us the community feels it too."

The studio is located at 16610 W. 159th St., unit 100, in Lockport.
