Lockport Holds Online Rain Barrel Sales

The sale will be held through Aug. 5, and the city is providing a 50 percent subsidy for city residents.

LOCKPORT, IL — For those interested, the City of Lockport has partnered with Upcycle Products, Inc., to hold an online rain barrel sales event. The sale will be held through Aug. 5, and the city is providing a 50 percent subsidy for city residents, limited to one barrel per household, according to the city website.

Rain barrels must be purchased online to receive the subsidy.

Purchased rain barrels will be available for pick-up at the public works department, 17112 Prime Blvd., starting Aug. 9 through Aug. 13.

According to the city website, rain barrels are large containers that capture stormwater from your roof. The water would otherwise be lost as run-off. The water in the barrels can be used to water lawns and gardens.
