Lockport Holds Open House For Road, Water Main Improvements

Thornton to Eighth; Madison to State; 13th to 19th; and State to Lawrence will all undergo road and water main reconstruction next year.

LOCKPORT, IL — The city of Lockport will hold an open house Thursday at the public works department, 17112 Prime Blvd., to discuss water main and roadway reconstruction in the area of Thornton to Eighth streets and State to Madison streets. The project will begin in 2020, and at the open house, the city said project engineers will give an overview of the project.

An open house was also held Nov. 19 to discuss improvements in the areas of 13th to 19th streets and State Street to Lawrence Avenue.

According to the city, improvements in the Thornton to Eighth streets and State to Madison streets are will include roadway reconstruction of 6,800 lineal feet, including removing existing asphalt pavement, new concrete curb and gutter, hot mix asphalt pavement and driveway aprons. There will also be new inlets, manholes and storm sewer pipe, new water main and water service construction, sanitary sewer lining and restoration like sodding and temporary erosion control.

The improvements in the areas of 13th to 19th streets and State Street to Lawrence Avenue will be similar. The city said improvements will include 7,500 lineal feet of roadway reconstruction, including the removal of the existing road, new concrete curb and gutter, hot mix asphalt pavement and driveway aprons. This area will also see the same stormwater management improvements as Thornton to Eighth and Madison to State.
