Lockport Home Uninhabitable After House Fire: Homer Fire District
A fire was found on the rear deck of the home, which had extended up the walls and into the attic, the District said.
LOCKPORT, IL — A Lockport home was left uninhabitable after a fire on Sunday afternoon, according to a release from the Homer Township Fire Protection District.
Firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 1:55 p.m. on Fieldview Court in Lockport, the District said. They arrived to find a two-story, single-family home, with heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home and smoke coming from the home's eaves.
A fire was found on the rear deck, which had extended up the walls and into the attic, the District said.

The residents were not home, and fire crews rescued a family dog, which is doing well, according to the District.
The fire was brought under control in 25 minutes, but the fire, smoke and heat damage has left the home uninhabitable, according to the District.

The fire was upgraded to a "full still," which brought aid assistance from Northwest Homer, Lockport, Mokena, Romeoville, Orland, Lemont and New Lenox to the scene. Crews from Palos, Palos Heights, Argonne and Plainfield covered the Homer stations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, the district said.
