Lockport Lightning Strike Survivor Featured In Wallbox Commercial

LOCKPORT, IL — If you tuned into the Super Bowl earlier this month, you may not have realized that Lockport was represented in the big game's commercials. Lockport native Seth Thomas was featured in the ad for Wallbox, a company that sells home electric vehicle chargers.

The ad focuses around Thomas, who is a real-life lightning strike survivor, as he embraces the Wallbox electric vehicle charger, despite fears of electricity. The commercial strikes a humorous tone, featuring shots of Thomas air-playing an electric guitar and staring fearfully at an outlet.

Thomas said he and his father, Kevin, were struck by lightning on a motorcycle trip in 2012, but had no major injuries.

Thomas' dad does background acting work in some shows filmed in Chicago, and he saw a casting call for lightning strike survivors for a commercial, Thomas said.

"I had a little extra free time to go to an online casting call," he told Patch. "Next thing I know, we are in [Los Angeles] shooting a commercial for the Super Bowl."
