Lockport Man Bowls 900 Series, Only the 2nd Ever in Illinois

Lockport High School alum Sam Esposito had the night of his life when he rolled three perfect games in a row at Strike N Spare II.

LOCKPORT, IL - Bowling a perfect 300 game is something even the most enthusiastic participants in the sport can only hope to have a chance to pull off. Once.

But for Sam Esposito of Lockport, that once-in-a-lifetime achievement occurred three times in one night.
Esposito became just the second bowler in Illinois history to record a 900 series on Friday, Feb. 3 at Strike N Spare II in Lockport, according to a report from the Herald-News. That’s three consecutive perfect games, a combined 36 strikes in a row.

A 26-year old who bowled at Lockport High School from 2005 to 2009 and placed 13th in the state his sophomore year, now has one of just 32 certified 900 series by the United States Bowling Congress.

“It’s the kind of thing you dream of as a kid, pitching a perfect game or bowling a 900 series,” Esposito told the Herald-News, noting that he and a bowling friend have previously joked about giving up the sport if either had ever pulled off a 900. “But you never think it is going to come to that. I couldn’t imagine that it actually would happen.”

The only other bowler to have pulled off a certified 900 series in Illinois is Andrew Mank of suburban St. Louis Belleville, who did it on March 18, 2010. The certifications date back to 1997.
