LOCKPORT, IL — A Lockport man has been charged with unauthorized videotaping, after recording a co-worker in his home while they showered, according to Lockport Police.

Brian Ericksen, 36, of Lockport, was arrested and booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility on Monday, in connection with an incident that was reported in August.

Lockport Police said a victim came to the department on Aug. 18, and reported he had been recorded without his consent. The victim said that he had gone to a co-worker's house the day before, to prepare for a work function in the evening.

The co-worker, now identified as Ericksen, would allow his co-workers to go to his home between work functions, so that they did not have to drive out of their way, according to police.

The victim told police then when he got out of the shower in Ericksen's home, he noticed a vape pen charging on the counter. He looked closer at the charger, and discovered it was a covert surveillance camera that was pointed at the shower, police said.

Videos from the device showed the victim undressing, using the bathroom, and entering and exiting the shower. The videos of the victim and of the device being set up were the only videos on the device, according to police.

The victim took the camera and the recording media and brought them to the Lockport Police Department to file a police report, as he had not consented to being videotaped, police said.

After an investigation by police, it was found that Ericksen had placed the surveillance camera in the bathroom in such as way as to record individuals using both the toilet and the shower.

An arrest warrant for unauthorized videotaping was secured, and Ericksen was arrested by the Will County Sheriff’s Office and was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility on Nov. 6 to await a pre-trial detention or conditions of release hearing.

According to jail logs, Ericksen was released from jail on Tuesday. Court records indicate his bond conditions were modified to allow him to travel to Las Vegas, and he was ordered not to have any contact with his co-worker.

On Thursday, Ericksen was arraigned on just one count of unauthorized videotaping and entered a not guilty plea, according to court records.

His next court date is Dec. 6 before Judge Sarah Jones.
