Lockport Moves To Semi-Finals Of Strong Towns Contest

Lockport will face off against Bismarck, North Dakota, in the semi-final round of the contest.

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport has moved on to the semi-finals into of the Strong Towns "Strongest Towns" contest after defeating Middleton, Wisconsin. The votes came in 61 percent in Lockport's favor, according to the city.

Lockport will face off against Bismarck, North Dakota, in the semi-final round of the contest.

According to the Strong Towns website, eight towns advanced to the next round of the contest based on votes. In this round, towns shared information about local businesses, local causes and popular events.

Voting will begin on Tuesday, and the nonprofit said it will be presenting podcast interviews with representatives from each city.

Other towns in the contest include: Bentonville, Arkansas and Oxford, Mississippi.

Strong Towns is a nonprofit which "advocates for a model of development that allows our cities, towns and neighborhoods to grow financially strong and resilient."
