Lockport Offers Heroes Banner Program

Lockport will display banners honoring veterans from Memorial Day to Veterans Day.

LOCKPORT, IL — The City of Lockport and the Lockport VFW are offering the Lockport Heroes banner program, to recognize men and women who have served in the Armed Forces.

Residents can submit their loved one's name, picture and branch of service to the City, and it will be displayed on a banner from Memorial Day to Veterans Day near City Hall on a streetlight post, according to the City website.

Orders must be received and paid by May 11.

The individual honored must be a current resident of Lockport, or could be deceased and previously lived in Lockport, according to the City.

When the program reaches 30 banners sold, paid applicants will be placed in next year's program, the City said.

You can apply online. After Veterans Day, banners will be given to those who purchased them, if they are still in good condition.

A portion of every sale benefits the Lockport Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5788.
