Lockport Plans Document Shredding Event For Residents
Residents can bring their documents for shredding, free of charge, on Sept. 16, the City said.
LOCKPORT, IL — The City of Lockport will hold a document shred event on Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon, at City Hall, 222 E. Ninth St.
According to the city, the event's aim is to "promote secure document disposal while ensuring the privacy and protection of Lockport residents."
The event will be held at City Hall, on the west side of the building. Residents can bring their documents for shredding, free of charge, the City said.

Documents should be free of metal binder clips and paper clips. This secure event will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a limit of two boxes per vehicle, until the shred truck is full.
There will also be personnel to help unload and securely shred documents, according to the release.

"Proper disposal of documents containing personal or confidential information is crucial in safeguarding against identity theft and other fraudulent activities," a release from the city states. "By participating in the Shred Event, residents can have peace of mind knowing that their sensitive documents are being handled and destroyed securely."
