Lockport Police Accepting Citizens Police Academy Applications

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Police Department is now accepting applications for the fall 2022 Citizens Police Academy.

Classes will begin on Sept. 1, and are held at the Lockport Police Department from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays. The class lasts for 12 weeks.

According to the city, the class gives citizens a chance to see how the department operates and how officers are trained to respond to different calls. Some class topics include DUI enforcement, mock court case trials, use of force, shoot or don't shoot, traffic law and accident reconstruction, SWAT and investigations.

You can find an application online for the class. After filling out the application, a background check will be conducted on each applicant, according to the city website.
