Lockport Police Increase Enforcement Efforts For Distracted Driving Awareness Month
"Distracted driving puts everyone at risk," police said.
LOCKPORT, IL — In April, the Lockport Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to recognize Distracted Driving Awareness Month with increased enforcement efforts, the department shared in a news release.
Police said that drivers can expect to see additional patrols focused on identifying drivers who are texting, using social media, watching videos, or engaging in other forms of distracted driving.
“Distracted driving puts everyone at risk. Even a quick glance at a phone can have devastating consequences,” police said in a news release.

This month, officers will be actively enforcing distracted driving laws and reminding motorists to keep their attention on the road.
In Illinois, manually using an electronic device while driving is illegal.
This enforcement campaign is funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
