Lockport Snow Removal: Ordinances And Plowing Priorities
Some streets in Lockport are maintained by the City, others are maintained by IDOT or Will County.
LOCKPORT, IL — While the snow has ended for this winter storm event, clean-up effort continues across Lockport as wind and cold makes a tough clean-up job for plows.
Another round of snow is also possible Sunday night into Monday, according to the weather service.
In Lockport, street parking is prohibited during and after snowfall events. The City ordinance calls for no parking on public streets after snow starts to fall, and for eight hours after snow stops falling.

According to the City website, plowing priorities are first the main streets that link arterial roads and those streets with schools on them; priority two is streets which are minor residential, side streets and cul-de-sacs with steep inclines or sharp curves; third priority is streets that are dead-ends, cul-de-sacs and alleys.
Several roads in Lockport are managed by different entities. The Illinois Department of Transportation maintains IL Route 171, New Avenue, IL Route 53 and IL Route 7. The Will County Highway Department maintains Briggs Street, Division Street (east of Briggs to Cedar Road) and Cedar Road, according to the City.

The City manages Farrell Road, Gougar (from Bruce to 163rd), Gougar (north to 151st), 147th Street to Lemont Road, Thornton from State Street to Madison, and Division Street west of Briggs.
