Lockport Township Park District Plans Juneteenth Park Party

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Township Park District will hold a Juneteenth Park Party on Saturday. The event will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. at AF Hill Park on Green Garden Avenue.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday which commemorates the end of slavery among people of color. On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved people were freed in Galveston, Texas, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

According to the park district, the free event will feature music, games and inflatables.
