Lockport's Summer Art Series Committee Plans Several Events
Residents can look forward to Comicopolis, a film festival and Fridays in the Park with Abe.
LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport's Summer Art Series Committee has planned several events to look forward to this summer. Residents can look forward to Comicopolis, a film festival and Fridays in the Park with Abe.
The fifth annual Comicopolis Comic & Fandom Con event will be held on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is sponsored by the White Oak Library District, Lockport’s Summer Art Series Committee, and Amazing Fantasy Books & Comics. The city said this is a free event and swag bags will be given to the first 500 attendees.
Gallery 7 has partnered with the Summer Art Series Committee to offer Fridays in the Park with Abe, the city said. There will be three nights of great music, ranging from jazz and blues to classic and modern rock. This is a free outdoor event at the Lincoln Landing; events will be held July 5, Aug. 2 and Sept. 6.

Lastly, the Summer Art Series is introducing its first-ever Midwest Waterways Short Film Festival. The city said this summer-long event will be held at the Roxy Theater. Films will cover five genres: July 11 – Drama; July 25 – Comedy; Aug. 8 – Horror; Aug. 22 – Documentary; Sept. 12 – Sci-fi or Animated; and Oct. 5 – Best of Fest.
