Lockport's Villa Nova Pizza Burglarized, No Suspects Found: Police

LOCKPORT, IL — Villa Nova Pizza's owner is "heartbroken" after the second burglary in less than two years at the restaurant, the business shared on its Facebook page.

Lockport Police told Patch that officers were called to Villa Nova Pizza, 946 N. State St., at 2:10 a.m. on Thursday for an activated burglar alarm.

Officers arrived and found a broken window, damaged cash registers and damaged video gaming machines, police said. No offenders were found when officers searched the building.

"For the second time in less than two years, our family business has been broken into. It is impossible to put into words the heartbreak, anger, and frustration that comes with walking into something you’ve worked so hard to build and seeing it violated again," the business shared on its Facebook page.

Police said that video surveillance shows five people, in all-black clothing and wearing gloves and masks, getting out of a black SUV. The group broke the front window and entered the business, according to police.

The suspects were in the building for less than two minutes before they fled in the SUV, police said. The total loss to the business and the gaming company is still being determined.

According to police, the incident remains under investigation and may be related to a series of burglaries that happened around the same time in at least five other towns in the area.

"We may be heartbroken today, but we won’t let this define us. We will clean up, rebuild, and keep moving forward just as we always have," the restaurant shared.
