LTHS Students Win At IDEA State Competition
Several students placed first, second, and third in their divisions at the state competition.

LOCKPORT, IL — Thirteen LTHS drafting and design students participated in the Illinois Design Educators Association state competition at Illinois State University on Saturday. The students were led by LTHS teachers Jeff Brown and Rodger Ebert, according to a release from the school.
The students who qualified and competed were Matas Avizonis - Introductory Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), Pablo Herrera and Emily Do - Architecture 3D Drafting, Jad Fakreddine - Machine Computer Aided Drafting, David Krzysiak, Matthew Handzel, Jack Thies, and Griffin Garrett - 3D CAD Modeling, Kyle Brown and Gabriel Sot - Assembly Modeling, and Bilal Useini, Robert Karbarz, and Chloe Berry - Architecture Design Team.
In the individual CAD contests, students are given a drawing problem to solve and draw within a two-hour time limit, according to the District.

In the team divisions, the students were presented with a design problem in January to solve and then present their solutions. All the contest solutions and designs are graded by architects, engineers, college students and college instructors.
Several students placed first in their divisions, including: Kyle Brown – Assembly Modeling, Bilal Useini, Robert Karbarz, and Chloe Berry – Architecture Design Team.

The District said Useini is a 3-time state champion in architecture design and Karbarz and Berry have now won two state championships in a row.
David Krzysiak – 3D CAD Modeling, and Pablo Herrera - Architecture 3D Drafting, placed second in their divisions. Matas Avizonis - Introductory CAD, Jad Fakreddine - Machine CAD, and Matthew Handzel - 3D CAD Modeling, placed third in their divisions.
