Lupine Montessori School is the vision and dream of Tina Davidson, Lupine’s Head of School and teacher. With 12 years of experience in the Montessori 3-6 year old classroom as well as experience in high school education, Davidson brings wisdom and passion to this new school. As said by Davidson, “I am thrilled to see this long time dream finally become a reality. So many people have come out to support us. From community members to local teachers to former students, the summer has been filled with all kinds of helping hands. We already have such strong sense of community. With an energy like this, it’s impossible not to be excited!” Joining Davidson is Lina McAndrew, who completed her Montessori training in 2016 and brings her expertise in cultural and culinary arts to the school.

Conveniently located at 936 N. State Street in Lockport, Lupine offers easy parking as well as over 2 acres of open land for the students to explore and investigate. The natural world and environmental practices are central to the Lupine philosophy. The school will encompass composting, waste free lunches, eco friendly products and materials.

Montessori schools differ from the traditional classroom, as they promote independent learning and work in a classroom filled with carefully prepared and sequenced works, which focus on various aspects of development. Students choose works that contribute to the development of concentration, coordination of movement and mastery in areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Creative Arts, Geography and Culture, Science, Mathematics and Language. The multi- aged classes allow students to act as both leaders and learners as they progress through a three-year cycle of learning.

With the support and direction of a committed board of directors, Lupine Montessori is poised to expand to include elementary grades 1-6 in the fall of 2018. This school year will begin on August 28th, however, Lupine will offer rolling admissions for students who need to start later. Interested families are asked to call 815-905-7030 or visit www.lupinemontessori.org.
