M/I Homes Breaks Ground On New Developments In Lockport

LOCKPORT, IL — M/I Homes has broken ground on the first homes at Silo Bend and The Townes at Silo Bend, two new-construction communities in Lockport, according to a release from the company. The new communities include 157 single-family homes and 92 townhomes.

M/I Homes representatives were joined by Lockport city officials as well as current and prospective homebuyers for a groundbreaking ceremony on Aug. 19, which signaled the start of work on four model homes across the two communities, the company said in a release.

“Together, Silo Bend and The Townes at Silo Bend make up one of the largest new-construction developments by a home builder in the southwest suburbs right now, so it’s exciting to see homes starting to rise and give a first look at the newest option for homebuyers in Lockport,” said Rick Champine, area president of M/I Homes. “We were honored to have so many people from the surrounding area celebrate this milestone with us, which is a real testament to the local anticipation for these two communities.”

Champine added that with site work underway and roads now partially paved, the groundbreaking event was also one of the first opportunities to drive through and tour portions of Silo Bend and The Townes at Silo Bend.

“Interested buyers and those who’ve already purchased a home here can get a real feel for the overall layout of these communities and how the single-family home and town home components are situated in relation to one another,” he said in the news release.

The subdivisions are located on West 167th Street just west of South Cedar Road.

The four model homes now under construction include two single-family homes at Silo Bend and two townhomes at The Townes at Silo Bend. Silo Bend buyers can select from 11 single-family home designs, from the $380,000 rang and ranging from 1,776 to 3,831 square feet.

For townhome buyers, The Townes at Silo Bend offers three two-story town home plans with attached front-load two-car garages, and the choice of three stylized exterior elevations – urban farmhouse, craftsman or traditional, a release from the compay states. Priced from the $260,000s, the town homes measure 1,500 to 2,136 square feet and have two to three bedrooms and 2 and a half baths.

“As with our single-family models, the town home models are a starting point to help our buyers envision the many ways they can tailor their homes to really enhance their daily lives,” said Cheryl Bonk, vice president of sales and marketing for M/I Homes. “We expect both models will be completed and available to tour in November, but in the meantime our expert sales team is ready to guide interested buyers through all the floor plans, upgrades and options available to them.”
