Mary Lou Prosise, of Channahon, passed away peacefully at the age of 101 on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. She was born in Lockport, IL, on February 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Ferdinando and Maria (nee Rigoni) Tarlini.

In 1945, while visiting family in Arizona, Mary Lou met the love of her life, Clarence Prosise. It was love at first sight, and the two soon married, beginning a life together that would take them across the country as Clarence served in the United States Navy. As a devoted Navy wife, Mary Lou embraced the adventure of moving from one Navy base to another, creating a loving and welcoming home for her family wherever they were stationed.

Mary Lou dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. A loving homemaker, she was deeply involved in her children’s lives, taking an active interest in their school activities, sports, and everyday moments. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured the time they spent together throughout the years.

Following retirement, Mary Lou and Clarence enjoyed spending several months each year in Arizona, a place that held special meaning for them and where their love story had begun. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, creating cherished memories and sharing in the simple joys of life.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, James (Anita) Prosise, William (Winifred) Prosise, and Charles (Michelle) Prosise; grandchildren, James Prosise, Jr., Mark Prosise, Laura (Chad) Hrechko, Heather Prosise, Kimberly Prosise, Eric (Jodi) Prosise, Steven (Jamie) Prosise, and Adam (Stephanie) Prosise; and great-grandchildren, Brant Hrechko, Reed Hrechko, Joshua Prosise, Jacob Prosise, Morgan Prosise, Anna Prosise, and Nora Prosise. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marie Liepart, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence C. Prosise, Jr.; her parents; twin grandchildren, Scott and Andy Prosise; her siblings, Reena Brosman, Angela Matesi, Christopher Tarlini, John Tarlini, and Arthur Tarlini; and dear friends Elvira “Beco” Bremer, Angie Fracaro, and Tina Kral.

Visitation for Mary Lou Prosise will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the St. Ann Catholic Church, Navajo Dr., Channahon, IL, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m.Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illinois, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
