Masks Recommended, Not Required, For Non-Vaccinated: District 33C

Superintendent Craig Schoppe wrote that masks are still required at all times, for everyone, on the school bus.

HOMER GLEN, IL — With the start of the school year approaching quickly, area schools and districts are providing updates on how this year will go and how health guidance will be followed.

On Friday, Homer District 33C Superintendent Craig Schoppe provided an update to the school community in a letter and said that masks are no longer required for those who are vaccinated, and are recommended, not mandatory, for non-vaccinated students and staff.

However, Schoppe wrote that masks are required at all times for all individuals while on the school bus, per CDC guidance for public transportation systems.

Other health guidance, like cleaning and disinfection procedures, frequent handwashing, and 3 feet of social distancing as much possible, will still be in place at the district, according to the letter.

"We will continue to review the guidance in preparation for the start of the school year, and we will be informing our 33C community of updates and changes as they occur," Schoppe wrote.
