Midwest Waterways Short Film Festival Coming To Downtown Lockport
For guests at the fest, there will be an opportunity to discuss the work between films with the filmmakers.
LOCKPORT, IL — The Midwest Waterways Short Film Festival will arrive at the Roxy Theater in downtown Lockport this summer. The city said guests can enjoy the summer-long event at the theater, and films will cover five genres.
The schedule is:
- July 11 – Drama
- July 25 – Comedy
- Aug. 8 – Horror
- Aug. 22 – Documentary
- Sept. 12 – Sci-fi or Animated
- Oct. 5 – Best of Fest
If you are a filmmaker looking to show your film this year, the city said prizes will be awarded for the best in each category determined by peer review and a grand prize for Best of Fest will be awarded by a select panel. Films are limited to 30 minutes in length and are required to have a comparable PG-13 rating. The deadline for entries is May 31.

For guests at the fest, there will be an opportunity to discuss the work between films with the filmmakers. You'll also be able to vote for your favorite film of each night, the city said. Food and drinks including alcoholic beverages will be available to purchase.
Tickets are $5 each and must be purchased in advance of the showing. Seating is limited so reserve your tickets at mwsfilmfest.com.
