New Ward 1 Alderman Appointed To Lockport City Council

LOCKPORT, IL — At Wednesday's meeting, the Lockport City Council approved the appointment of Pat Sheehan to fill the unexpired term for ward 1 alderman.

According to council documents, former Alderman Matt Kairis submitted his resignation in June. His term was set to expire in 2025.

The mayor's office has 60 days to make an appointment once a vacancy occurs, council documents state. There is less than 28 months remaining in the unexpired term, so Sheehan will serve the remainder of the term until 2025.

Sheehan also took his oath of office during Wednesday's meeting.
