News Conference About Water Legislation Held In Homer Glen
Homer Glen Mayor George Yukich will speak about his constituents' history of skyrocketing bills under Illinois American Water.

HOMER GLEN, IL — The Citizens Utility Board will hold a news conference in Homer Glen on Monday, June 25, and will urge the governor to veto a house bill that favors two private water companies. According to a release from the utility board, House Bill 4508 is legislation that opens the door for higher water bills across the state.
The news conference will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Homer Glen Village Hall Board Room, 14240 W. 151st St. According to the board, consumer advocates fear this legislation will allow Illinois' two biggest private water companies to buy up municipal water systems and raise customer rates.
The parent companies of Aqua and Illinois American made a combined profit of $150 million in the first quarter alone, and past reviews have shown that the two companies charge up to 70 percent more than public
systems in the region, according to the citizens utility board.
