Oak Prairie Takes Home Cheerleading State Title
Oak Prairie took first place in the Class 1A cheerleading state competition with a score of 90.48.
LOCKPORT, IL — Will County School District 92's Oak Prairie took home a state championship at the IESA Class 1A cheerleading state competition.
According to IESA, Oak Prairie had a score of 90.48, beating out second place New Berlin Junior High School which has a score of 89.08.
According to a news release from the District, the team finished the season with five first-place finishes and two second-place finishes.

"What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is that half of our athletes had never competed at the junior high level before this year. They stepped into a new level of pressure and expectation and rose to the challenge every single time," the District shared.
This is the team's fourth championship placement at IESA, and the eighth podium finish.

The team roster includes sixth graders Bliss Penzkofer, Emily Rolewicz, Giuliana Roti-Glynn, Alessandra Tran, Milania Pacione; seventh graders Alaynna Garrett, Finley Harms, Luciana Rodriguez, Delaney Sheehan; and eighth graders Layla Brandt, Jade Leise and Lilly Pietka. The team is coached by Summer Garrett.
