Pedestrian Severely Injured After Hit By Car In Lockport: Police

The investigation is ongoing, but police told Patch that they did not anticipate issuing citations for the driver.

LOCKPORT, IL — A pedestrian was seriously injured on Wednesday when she was hit by a car on Archer Avenue near 147th Street in Lockport, Lockport Police told Patch.

Police said they arrived at the scene at 8 p.m. Wednesday, and found a 33-year-old woman in the road who was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Officers began CPR until paramedics arrived.

Paramedics were able to get a pulse, and the woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said they spoke to witnesses and learned that the woman was running in the northbound lane of traffic on Archer Avenue, when she was struck by a car. Due to the heavy rain and darkness, the driver did not see the woman, according to police.

A family member said the woman was walking northbound with her spouse when the driver swerved, and she was hit by the vehicle.
