Porter Pride: 5 Unforgettable Athletes From Lockport Township High School
From local fields to national fame, these stars got their start in Lockport.

Sports run deep in Lockport, and Lockport Township High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Porter uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Lockport Township High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.
Haley Augello – Olympic Freestyle Wrestler
2013 Lockport grad and freestyle wrestler Haley Augello won the U.S. Olympic Trials at 48 kg and qualified for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where she finished seventh overall in women’s freestyle wrestling. She also won two college national championships competing for King University. Augello has continued to compete internationally and hopes to return to Olympic qualification. (Source: USA Wrestling)
Ron Coomer – Former MLB Player & Radio Commentator
Ron Coomer is a former Major League Baseball player who starred at Lockport Township High School before a professional career that included time with the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs. After retiring from playing, Coomer transitioned into broadcasting and has served as a radio commentator for the Chicago Cubs. (Source: MLB)

Ashley Freiberg – Sports Car & Endurance Racing Driver
Ashley Freiberg is a pioneering American sports car and endurance racing driver who attended Lockport Township High School. She went on to compete successfully in various open-wheel and sports car series, including winning two Barber Racing Championships and earning opportunities to test with top teams. Richaun Holmes – NBA Draft Pick & International Basketball Player
Richaun Holmes is a professional basketball player who graduated from Lockport Township High School before playing at Moraine Valley Community College and Bowling Green, and was drafted into the NBA in 2015. After several seasons in the NBA, Holmes has continued his career internationally, most recently playing for Panathinaikos in the Greek Basketball League and EuroLeague. (Source: NBA)

5. Tony Pashos – NFL Offensive Lineman
After his time at Lockport, football star Tony Pashos played for the University of Illinois before being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft, launching an 11-year NFL career that included stints with multiple teams.
