Preserve Receives Donation For Bike Repair Station

The two bike repair stations will be installed at two trail intersections, including one near Homer Glen.

HOMER GLEN, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Will County received a donation for two new bike repair stations at its meeting on Sept. 14, according to a news release.

The Nature Foundation of Will County presented a donation check for $22,500 for several projects, including two bike repair stations, an exhibition at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon, and a scholarship program.

The two bike repair stations will be installed at two trail intersections, including one near Homer Glen. The stations will be at Old Plank Road Trail and the Hickory Creek Bikeway, and the Spring Creek Greenway Trail and Veterans Memorial Trail, according to the preserve.

The Foundation donation for this project was a match for funds donated by the Joliet Bicycle Club.

Foundation Board Chairwoman Ragan Pattison said the Foundation is, “honored and excited to further the Forest Preserve’s land stewardship, nature education, wellness, cooperation and sustainability initiatives."
