Providence Student-Athlete Commits To Softball At St. Mary's

LOCKPORT, IL — Providence Catholic High School student and Lockport resident Kelley Rourke is one of four student-athletes who will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level, according to a release from Providence.

“We are extremely proud of these athletes. They are academically accomplished students in the classroom and leaders in their respective sports. We wish all of them the very best in college and in the future, and are excited to see them continue playing at the next level,” Athletic Director Doug Ternik said in a release.

Rourke is the daughter of John and Sharon Rourke, and has committed to St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana, to play softball on academic scholarship, the school said. Rourke plans to major in physical therapy.

According to the school, Rourke is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lockport, and is also a member of the honor roll and National Honor Society. She has been a member of the softball team for three years.

Rourke also plays for the 18U Nationals Premier Softball team and has been with the organization for the past four years.

“Providence has helped prepare me for college with the courses I have taken and the independence that teachers have given me,” Rourke said in a release.
