Pumpkin Fun Run, Birding Planned In Homer Glen Preserves
The Forest Preserve District of Will County will host a 2.5-mile Pumpkin Fun Run on Oct. 15.

HOMER GLEN, IL — Summer may be over, but there are still plenty of opportunities to stay active in the fall, including at Homer Glen forest preserves.
The Forest Preserve District of Will County will host a 2.5-mile Pumpkin Fun Run on Oct. 15 at Hadley Valley Preserve - Gougar Road Access.
According to the preserve, the run is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Strollers are also welcome. Once you cross the finish line, you can choose a mini pumpkin to take home. Each runner will also receive an orange wrist sweatband with a zipper pocket to wear during the race.

There will be games, activities, face painting and an Auntie Anne's Pretzels food truck after the race.

If running isn't your style, you can also join the preserve's Morning Bird Hike from 8 to 10 a.m. Oct. 2 at Messenger Woods Nature Preserve in Homer Glen.
The hike is free, and is for those ages 16 and older, according to the preserve. The program is for birders of all levels.
