Reckless Homicide, DUI Charges Filed In Fatal Lockport Crash

The crash happened in August at Gougar Road and 163rd Street in Lockport.

LOCKPORT, IL — A West Chicago man has been charged with reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence in connection to a crash that killed another man over the summer, according to Will County Circuit Court documents.

Alan Knudsen, 54, formerly of Plainfield, died a day after the Aug. 4 crash.

A criminal complaint and charges were filed Dec. 30 against 39-year-old Daniel Flores Jr., in connection to the fatal crash at Gougar Road and 163rd Street in Lockport. Flores is accused of being under the influence when he ran a red light, causing the crash that killed Knudsen.

According to court documents, Flores has been charged with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence, reckless homicide and aggravated driving while license revoked.

Flores drove "while under the influence of any drug or combination of drugs to a degree that rendered the defendant incapable of safely driving" and drove during a period in which his driving privileges were already revoked, court documents state.

According to court documents, Flores drove at a "speed that endangered the safety of any person or property" and entered the intersection of Gougar and 163rd when the traffic light for his direction was red. He did not stop for the red light and entered the intersection, driving into the victim's vehicle.

Flores' bail is set at $1 million. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
