  • An 89-year-old woman reported that around 2 p.m. on Aug. 1, a Hispanic man, 5'6", in his 20s, clean-shaven, and with black hair, knocked on her door in the 16000 block of South Gougar Road. The man had a badge around his neck that said "city inspector." The homeowner allowed the man to enter her home, as he told her he needed to check her electricity. He led her to the back porch where an electrical outlet was located, then led her to the back garage area, and discussed where her property line was. The homeowner became suspicoius and when she walked around to the driveway, she saw a second man in the driver’s seat of a Nissan SUV with the front license plates covered up. The first man got into the vehicle and left the area heading northbound on Gougar Road. The woman realized a short time later that a gold watch and a roll of half dollars were missing from a bedroom. Deputies spoke with construction workers in the area and were told by one worker that he saw a white SUV in the victim's driveway. He saw a man go into the trunk of the SUV, put on a safety vest, and place magnetic company signs on the side of the vehicle. The worker did not know the company name, but remembered it was an electric company.
