Interested families, business and organizations can decorate scarecrows, which will be displayed through October at Heritage Park.
HOMER GLEN, IL — Registration for the Village of Homer Glen's scarecrow walk and contest opens Wednesday. Individuals, families, organizations and business can participate in the event, which offers 50 scarecrow locations sold on a first come, first served basis.
After you build your scarecrow, it will be put on display at Heritage Park, according to the village.
There is a $15 entry fee for the event, and decorated scarecrows are due Oct. 2.

Three prizes will be awarded for the scarecrows: the Homer Glen Junior Woman's Club award, which will be determined by judges from the club; and a first and second People's Choice award, which will be determined by an online vote, the village said.
The scarecrows can be removed on Oct. 30, or village staff will remove and discard them on Nov. 2.
