St. Joseph Principal Receives Award From Lewis University

LOCKPORT, IL — The principal of St. Joseph School in Lockport was recently honored for her dedication and commitment. According to the Diocese of Joliet, Lynne Scheffler received the 2019 Bishop Roger L. Kaffer Outstanding Principal Award from Lewis University and the College of Education for her outstanding dedication to the education profession and school leadership, and her commitment to the finest Christian ideals of education.

The diocese said Scheffler has been a principal in the Diocese of Joliet for 19 years. Scheffler was chosen from among more than 50 principals dedicated to Catholic schools. The annual award honors those who are leaders in the field of Catholic education and who personify the Catholic values and principles of school leadership.

“While awards and recognition have provided incredible opportunities, I will always be most proud of the ability to provide an environment where children develop a love of learning and a love of the Lord. Imparting the Catholic faith to our children will always be my greatest accomplishment,” Scheffler said in a release.

“Miss Scheffler is a person who has given her entire life, talents and energy in service to children. For her, the work of education is not a job, but a true advocacy of children and a wholehearted commitment to their betterment,” Rev. Gregory Rothfuchs, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lockport, said in a release.

According to the diocese, Scheffler was previously inducted into the 2018 Joliet Catholic Academy Hall of Champions for Business and Industry and was selected as the 2016 Distinguished Principal by two organizations – the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the National Catholic Educational Association.
