State Rep. Avelar Plans Back To School Fair At Fairmont School

LOCKPORT, IL — State Rep. Dagmara "Dee" Avelar will host a back to school fair July 16 at Fairmont School in Lockport. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, 735 Green Garden Place.

"It is never too early to start thinking about back to school season and all the preparation that comes with it,” Avelar said in a news release. “From free school supplies to backpack fittings, our Back to School Fair will be a one-stop shop for families and their children to have some fun while preparing for the upcoming academic year.”

The event will feature various community resources for families, including backpack fittings by Lewis University Occupational Therapy, according to a release. Free school supplies will be available on a first come, first served basis and free refreshments will be provided. School vaccination appointment sign-ups will also be available.

“When students have the school supplies and other resources they need to succeed, they can fully focus on learning and engaging with their peers in the classroom. This leads to happier students and better educational outcomes,” Avelar said in a release. “I encourage parents, guardians and other family members to join us for this free event and get ready for the upcoming school year.”
