STOP THE TRUCK ROUTE: Latest Update on the 143rd Expansion

We need everyone to help in stopping this!!!!!!!!!!!

Update Following the December 12, 2023, Public Works and Transportation Committee Meeting for 143rd Street Expansion

Thank you to all the people who showed up to speak and those who sent emails to countyboard@willcountyillinois.com.

There were over 30 speakers and about 45 minutes of emails read into the minutes. The meeting seemed very beneficial in halting the 143rd expansion. Not one person was in favor of moving forward with the expansion.
Homer Township Clerk Bozen and Trustee Shake explained the Township's position on stopping the expansion of the road on 143rd. Homer Glen Mayor Troike, along with Trustees Steilen and Fialko, spoke against the expansion as well. The only person in favor of the expansion was the County Highway Commissioner. Those on the committee seemed to understand that this project might have been a good idea 12 years ago, but over time, it has become a bad one.

The next step is January 2nd, 2024, at the Public Works and Transportation Committee at 9 am when the Committee will vote to move forward with the expansion or stop it. Next, it will move for a vote of the full Will County Board on January 18th, 2024, at 9:30 am.
Pepople should send emails to countyboard@willcountyillinois.com and jbertinotarrant@willcountyillinois.com. The emails will need to be sent before the next full Will County Board meeting on December 21st, 2023, where they will be read into the record. This will help to keep the issue front and center for the 22 Board members. I believe we can stop the 5-lane expansion of 143rd.
