Three Lockport Businesses Broken Into In One Night: Cops
Three Lockport businesses were broken into May 20, and tobacco products, cash and phones were stolen.
LOCKPORT, IL — Three Lockport businesses were broken into on May 20, Deputy Chief Ron Huff told Patch. Lockport Police received an alarm call at 1:03 a.m. May 20 to Tobacco Empire, 1051 E. Ninth Street, for a broken window. When officers arrived within two minutes, they found that the front window of the business had been shattered with a brick.
Huff said the officers searched the store, but the offenders had fled the scene. Police reviewed video footage from the store, which showed a silver sedan occupied by three people in all black clothing and wearing masks pull up in front of the store, break the window and enter through the broken window. The three people stole an unknown amount of tobacco products.
Officers also found a broken window at the Subway nearby at 1043 E. Ninth St. According to police, offenders entered that store and stole an undetermined amount of cash.

While at the scene of the first two burglaries, police received a call from a witness about suspects matching the description of the three people who had broken into Tobacco Empire who had now broken into Verizon Wireless, 16527 W. 159th St. The offenders had fled on 159th Street toward I-355, police said.
When police arrived at Verizon Wireless, they found a window had been broken with a brick. Four cell phone on display had been stolen from the store, police said.

Police believe the same three offenders broke into the three business.
