'Train' of Shopping Carts Ran Down Woman at Lockport Walmart: Lawsuit

The woman was severely injured by the train of shopping carts, the lawsuit said.

LOCKPORT, IL — A “train” of shopping carts ran down a Walmart shopper and left her severely injured, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Kathleen Weinert suffered rib and back contusions, and her lumbar disc disease and “mildly degenerative thoracic spine” were both aggravated when she was hit by the shopping carts at the Walmart on Farrell Road, the lawsuit said.

In April 2014, a Walmart employee was pushing a train of shopping carts into the store when they struck Weinert and knocked her to the “ground with great force and violence,” the suit said.

The Walmart store and the Walmart company were at fault because the train of shopping carts was too long and there should have been someone at its front, among other things, the lawsuit said.
