LOCKPORT, IL — A warrant for a 37-year-old Lockport woman's arrest has been issued after she failed to appear in court for charges of endangering the life and safety of a child.

Kimberly Wells was arrested in June and July after police said she left her two children, ages 2 and 3, in her car while she went into a bar. The first incident happened June 28, when her children were left unattended while Wells was inside the Crow's Next Tavern in Joliet, according to police.

The second arrest happened July 15 at Los Gavenos Bar in Joliet, when police say again Wells left her children unattended in her vehicle while she went inside the bar.

The windows were closed, and police described the inside of the car as being in deplorable condition, Joliet police said.

Police said Wells came out of the bar and told officers that she was the mother of the two children. Police determined that Wells had been inside the bar drinking for between 30 and 60 minutes.

After the July incident, police took Wells into custody and the Department of Children and Family Services was notified, and the children were placed in the custody of another family member.

She was set to appear in court on Aug. 15 for both incidents, which included a total of four charges of endangering the life and safety of a child. The Will County State's Attorney's Office said she did not appear in court, so a warrant was issued with a bond forfeiture date of Sept. 2.

The bail was set at $5,000 for the warrant concerning the July arrest, and bail was set at $3,000 for the June arrest.
