Wildflower Hike Planned In Homer Glen

"Wonders of Wildflowers" will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 in the Messenger Woods Nature Preserve.

HOMER GLEN, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Will County will offer a wildflower hike in May in Homer Glen. The preserve said some of the woodland wildflowers that may be blooming in May include: wild geranium, large-flowered trillium, woodland phlox, prairie trillium, common blue violets, Virginia bluebells and wild columbine.

In Homer Glen, "Wonders of Wildflowers" will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. You can head to the Hawthorne Grove shelter in the Messenger Woods Nature Preserve. The preserve said participants will hike up to 1 mile and explore the preserve with a naturalist.

The program is for ages 8 and older. Register by Thursday, May 9; call 708-946-2216.
