Will County Sheriff Begins Fourth Of July Enforcement Campaign

The safety campaign started June 16 and will run through July 4.

WILL COUNTY, IL — The Will County Sheriff’s Office has started its Fourth of July traffic enforcement campaign with a focus on impaired and unbuckled drivers, according to a release from the office. The safety campaign started June 16 and will run through July 4 to encompass three weekends leading up to and following the holiday, which is one of the deadliest times on Illinois roads, the sheriff's office said.

“We want all of our residents and visitors to have an enjoyable and safe holiday,” Traffic Sergeant Lakomiak said in a release. “Remember, if you are going to drink or use other impairing substances, do not drive. We will be stepping up patrols to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure everyone makes it home from their celebrations.”

The Sheriff’s Office will join the Illinois State Police and more than 200 local police and sheriff’s departments for the increased statement effort.
