Young Hearts For Life Cardiac Screening Offered At LTHS

LOCKPORT, IL — A free heart screening for LTHS students will be held at Lockport Township High School East Campus on Sept. 8.

Young Hearts for Life will be at the campus to offer free electrocardiograms to sophomores, juniors and seniors, according to the district website.

Parent volunteers are also needed to help with registration and entering data on the day of the event.

According to the Young Hearts for Life website, an ECG can detect certain serious heart conditions. An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart by using electrodes attached to the skin with a mild adhesive, the website states.

The organization's cardiac screening program has screened over 240,000 students across the country.
