$1 Million Lottery Ticket Sold At Calumet City Store
A lucky customer won $1 million.

CALUMET CITY, IL — One south suburban business recently sold a million-dollar winning lottery ticket.
A lucky customer at K N R Candy on River Oaks Drive in Calumet City walked away with the matching ticket for Monday’s Powerball numbers of 3-6-11-17-22, winning $1 million.
“It was an exciting, happy day at our store,” said Kirit Patel, owner of K N R Candy, in an Illinois Lottery news release.

For selling the winning ticket, the retailer will receive a bonus of $10,000 — 1 percent of the prize amount.
“We have been serving our community for over 20 years, and our customers have become a part of our extended family," Patel said in the news release. "We know most of our customers by their first name so we are all hoping that the winner is someone that frequents our store.”

Patel said he will use the money to do something special for his employees and invest the rest back into the business, according to the news release.
This year has been a particularly lucky one for some Illinois Lottery participants. Just a few months ago, a player won a record-breaking $1.34 billion Mega Millions jackpot with a ticket purchased in Des Plaines, the largest lottery prize ever won in Illinois history and the third-largest such prize in the history of the U.S.
