Advocate Aurora Health expands COVID-19 community testing into the south suburbs

Advocate Aurora Health this week is expanding COVID-19 community testing to the south suburbs of Chicago with a drive-thru location at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, 17800 Kedzie Avenue, in Hazel Crest.

This drive-thru location will be in operation Sept. 24 through Oct. 30. Hours of operation are 8 am to 1 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Appointments are required.. To schedule, use the Advocate Aurora LiveWell app or call 877-819-5034. The test comes with no out-of-pocket cost to the patient, as Advocate Aurora will either bill a patient’s insurance or absorb the cost of the test for patients who do not have insurance.

Drive-thru testing is available for anyone showing at least one COVID-19 symptom, or people who believe they have been exposed to COVID-19 in their household or through significant exposure at work or in public. COVID-19 symptoms include cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, body or muscle aches, headache, fatigue, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or recent loss of taste or smell.

After the test, people should stay at home and avoid contact with others until receiving a result, which should be available in 3-7 days. Results will be delivered via the Advocate Aurora Health LiveWell mobile app. If results are positive, a staff member will contact patients. Negative results for patients who don’t have the LiveWell app will be mailed to their home.
