Advocate South Suburban Hospital offers a free fitness program for cancer survivors

Moving Beyond Cancer is free and open to people of all fitness levels, from seasoned runners to casual walkers.

Advocate South Suburban Hospital is proud to sponsor Moving Beyond Cancer, a coaching and training program for cancer survivors and their supporters (family, friends, caregivers). This free 9-week program is open to people of all fitness levels, from seasoned runners to casual walkers.

Moving Beyond Cancer runs May 17 to July 19, every Tuesday night from 6 to 7 p.m. on Advocate South Suburban Hospital’s HealthTrek, a paved one-mile trail behind the hospital. All participants are invited to complete an optional 5k Race Celebration on Sunday, July 24. There is a fee for the race registration.

Professional coaches Marie Jarrell and Chris King from Custom Fit Coaching Services will help participants improve their fitness and build new friendships by walking, running or training from walking to running. Together they have over 25 years of coaching experience with walkers and runners, beginning to advanced. The coaches are knowledgeable about exercise parameters and accommodations needed during and post-treatment.
