HF Student Killed In Homewood Shooting

A 17-year-old was shot Saturday afternoon near 191st and Loomis.

HOMEWOOD, IL - One person was hospitalized with serious injuries Saturday afternoon after a shooting incident near 191st Street and Loomis Avenue in Homewood. Homewood police have released a few details about the reported incident, confirming the person was shot around 1:42 p.m.

Police confirmed the next day that the victim, a 17-year-old, had died as a result of the shooting.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released, but a letter sent to families indicates he was a student at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting the Homewood Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit with the case. No report of anyone taken into custody in the case has been made as of early Saturday evening.
