FLOSSMOOR, IL — A new monthly fee that replaces vehicle stickers in Flossmoor will kick in May 1, the Village said.
The Flossmoor Village Board of Trustees approved an ordinance at its April 20 meeting assessing a monthly Vehicle Use Fee per household, effective May 1. Revenue will be used for street and sidewalk maintenance. The fee structure is:
The fee will be added to water bills, which are anticipated to transition to a monthly payment system this summer.
Special note for seniors
Homeowners who are age 65 or older are eligible for a 20 percent reduction on the Vehicle Use Fee. Seniors can apply for the reduced rate between May 1-31 by presenting a driver's license, passport or state-issued photo ID to the Finance Department at Village Hall. Hours are Mondays-Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Exception
This ordinance assumes that each homeowner has at least one motor vehicle, motorcycle, passenger car or recreational vehicle registered in the Village. If you do not, you may sign a sworn affidavit with the Finance Department asserting so. The Village will then investigate, and if it is determined to be true, no vehicle use fee will be imposed upon that owner.
