HOMEWOOD, IL — A Homewood favorite is set to return in early June.
The Village of Homewood will host its annual Art & Garden Street Fair on Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6, bringing two days of art, music and community celebration to downtown Homewood.
The event will take place along Martin Avenue between Ridge Road and Hickory Road. Festival hours are 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, with extended Saturday evening hours added in response to strong demand from festivalgoers.
Widely regarded as one of the Homewood’s premier events, the Art & Garden Street Fair will feature more than 80 local and regional artisans from across the Chicagoland area. Attendees can explore a curated collection of art, handmade goods, vintage finds, garden décor and locally sourced food, all set against a vibrant backdrop of live outdoor entertainment.
The festival opens Friday afternoon with Big Weekend, delivering a high-energy set of classic rock favorites from the 1970s and 1980s from 4 to 6 p.m. The evening continues with Homewood-Flossmoor’s own Not My Dad, a seven-piece cover band known for its dynamic performances spanning the 1960s through today, with a focus on 1980s and early 1990s rock. The band, which includes local educators from Homewood-Flossmoor High School, will headline Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m.
Saturday’s lineup begins with Southside Soul Kings from 1 to 3 p.m., bringing a mix of blues, R&B and funk. Southtown Soul & Groove follows from 4 to 6 p.m., performing soulful classics. The festival concludes with 28 Days, closing out the event from 7 to 9 p.m. with popular hits from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.
In addition to live entertainment, the event offers a variety of family-friendly activities. Free face painting will be available on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Kids Maker Space will feature interactive art experiences, including a Homewood Science Center painting project from noon to 3 p.m. and an Art Corner Frames project from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Friday’s Kids Maker Space activities will be announced at a later time.
“This year’s Art & Garden Street Fair is truly something special,” said Marla Youngblood, Events Manager for the Village of Homewood. “We’ve expanded the event in response to the incredible support from our community, adding more artisans, more entertainment and extended hours on Saturday so guests can enjoy even more of what makes Homewood so vibrant. It’s the perfect way to kick off summer with great music, unique shopping and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere right in the heart of our downtown.”
A wide selection of food trucks, local restaurants and beverage vendors will be available throughout the event, offering something for every taste.
Free parking will be available on nearby streets and in Village-owned lots. An accessible drop-off location will be available at the corner of Kroner Lane and Martin Avenue. ADA parking is located in the Metra lot, Village Hall lot, Dixie Lot and Harwood Lot.
The Art & Garden Street Fair continues to be a signature Homewood event, celebrating creativity, community and the vibrant local culture that defines the Village.
