FLOSSMOOR, IL — The Flossmoor Public Art Commission has announced that its Garden Art & More Online Auction is now open through Friday, July 10.
This unique fundraiser features items made by well-known artists and creative, local hobbyists, that are ideal for your garden, yard or home, as well as art-related experiences. In addition to yard art, other up-for-bid items include:
Money raised from the auction will support Flossmoor’s public sculpture collection by funding the rotational program, the acquisition of permanent pieces, and the maintenance and repair of sculptures, as needed.
“Brighten your home and garden or buy a fun event to share with friends, while you support art at the same time,” says Nancy Burrows, Flossmoor Public Art Commission Co-Chair (and maker of many pieces in the auction). “I hope you will become obsessed, as I have, with visiting the auction site!”
Flossmoor’s public art collection includes 16 permanent sculptures, plus a variety of short-term sculptures that are displayed on a rotational basis. To help showcase the collection, the Flossmoor Public Art Commission invites the community to its Summer Sculpture Tour, starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, beginning in Flossmoor’s South Commuter Lot (just south of Flossmoor Road at Sterling Avenue). The walking tour will include guided stops at six sculptures. For more information, visit ArtFlossmoor.com.
